PMU’s interdisciplinary platform for sustainable infrastructure and advanced materials research
PMU’s interdisciplinary platform for sustainable infrastructure and advanced materials research
SIM is PMU’s interdisciplinary platform for applied research and innovation in sustainable infrastructure materials, low-carbon construction technologies, and resilient engineering systems. The center develops practical, scalable, and industry-relevant solutions that support sustainable infrastructure development, circular economy implementation, and carbon reduction strategies aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and global sustainability goals.
With a strong emphasis on Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region, SIM is designed to support national transformation initiatives, infrastructure modernization, industrial sustainability, and the transition toward carbon-neutral and resource-efficient construction systems.
SIM brings together an interdisciplinary team of faculty, researchers, engineers, and affiliated experts to conduct advanced research at the interface of civil engineering, materials science, sustainability, digital technologies, and infrastructure innovation. Our work is designed to support industry leaders, policymakers, infrastructure developers, and research communities through practical engineering solutions, advanced testing capabilities, and high-impact scientific research.
Vision
To establish a globally recognized hub for innovation in sustainable infrastructure materials, leading the transformation of civil engineering practices toward carbon-neutral, resilient, and technologically advanced infrastructure systems.
Mission
To deliver cutting-edge research and practical solutions in civil engineering materials that enhance sustainability, durability, and performance of infrastructure systems. The centre integrates advanced material science with engineering applications to reduce environmental impact, optimize resource utilization, and support the implementation of circular and low-carbon construction technologies, in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
